The DC sources / sinks in the ERS-BIC series from Heinzinger electronic offer great flexibility with their dual-channel concept. The ERS-BIC testing rig energy system can classically be used for applications from 20 V to 600 V and 600 A with full dynamics, thanks to its two independent channels. If higher currents are used for certain applications, the channels of the ERS-BIC can be switched in parallel with just a few actions to generate currents of up to 1,200 A. Even demands for 1,000 V can be easily met with the ERS-BIC: If both channels are switched in series, even 1,200 V with up to 600 A can be generated in both directions.
Rapid Target Value Changes and Dynamic Control Behavior
In addition to flexibility, dynamic control behavior and rapid target value changes are especially important for applications involving e-motors and inverters. The change rate of target value specifications via a digital CAN interface is 1 kHz, and is included as standard with Heinzinger testing rig energy systems. This allows new voltage target value to be represented, for example for a dynamic driving profile, in “virtually real-time” with the ERS systems. The control behavior of the ERS can be adjusted to the test object and saved as a set of parameters in the operating system, ensuring it is immediately ready for retrieval the next time it is used. Further optimization of the dynamic behavior can be achieved by adjusting the output capacities.

Safety and Sustainability for a Reliable System
The subject of safety is one that cannot be skimmed over with e-motors and inverters. If a fault occurs in feedback mode, for example, and the system shuts down or if the output relays open, the interim circuit and the connections on the test object can still be live and this represents a danger for the operator and/or the test object itself. This risk can be minimized with the Heinzinger testing rig energy systems’ fast discharge circuits, increasing the safety of the test setup.
